MS/MHC, LCMHC
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor offering individual, family and couples counseling in North Carolina and Utah. I have enjoyed working with teens and adults for over 20 years. Because of my faith in a loving and present God, I offer therapy that is rooted in love, acceptance, compassion and respect for each person. I see each client as an individual with unique and complex needs and perspectives. Because of that understanding, I tap into various styles of counseling to create an experience that will be uniquely suited to fit your needs and the goals you want to accomplish in our work together.
"There is hope even when your brain tells you there isn't."
Services
More and more people in today's world and changing culture are feeling lost, isolated, hopeless and overwhelmed. My work focuses on helping people understand themselves, get unstuck, find hope and move forward with new found skills and perspectives. I combine the practicality of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with the depth of psychodynamic therapy to provide individuals and couples a safe, supportive space in which to understand the unhealthy patterns in their lives and explore new ways of thinking, feeling, and engaging with the world.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q&A
Will my health insurance cover therapy?
The answer is MAYBE. The best way to find out what they will pay for is to contact your insurance provider and ask what your out-of-network benefits cover. Please keep in mind they will require a diagnosis and treatment plan. Kara will provide a Superbill which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts can be used.
How do I schedule an appointment?
There are a couple of ways to schedule an appointment with Kara.
submit a request using the Get In Touch form below. Please list the days of the week and times of the day that fit your schedule best and she will try and accommodate.
call or text her at 801-671-9385.
Why does Kara not take insurance?
There are many reasons Kara is not on insurance panels.
She wants to protect the privacy of your medical records.
She does not want to be forced to give you a diagnosis if it is unnecessary or unhelpful. Once a diagnosis is given it becomes a part of your medical record and history.
She does not want untrained people dictating the type of and time allotted for the help and support you need for your unique struggles.
What if I can't afford cash payment?
Kara offers many ways to better afford counseling, as her desire is to help as many people as possible to get the help they need regardless of financial situation.
